The Cereal City Triathlon and Series is designed to give kids a taste of the world of multi-sport in a fun and non-intimidating way.
There will be two course options to choose from based on ability level, not age. This event is a fun, untimed event. Our goal is to promote healthy, active kids and develop a love of multi-sport events. Parents are more than welcome to time their own children for those that have a competitive drive. Before the event, please practice with your children each of the three disciplines (swim, bike, and run) as well as transitioning from one event to the other (I.E. putting socks and shoes on wet feet, taking off helmets, etc.)
The Cereal City KIDS Triathlon is geared specifically for kids ages 4-13. Kids will swim, bike and run within and around Willard Beach Park. All participants will receive a completion medal, a t-shirt and swim cap.
Parents are welcome to join their kids on the course . Training wheels and swim aids are also allowed.
The Cereal City KIDS Series includes a separate swim, bike, run event AND the triathlon. Each component of this 4-part series can be done virtually or with Cereal City Athletics at low key, fun events. Series participants recieve an awesome puzzle-like medal, earning a piece for each event completed.
***The Cereal City KIDS Triathlon Series will only be offered virtually for the 2019 season.***
The series is designed to help kids get experience in each discipline before putting them all together at the Cereal City KIDS Triathlon. Series registrants will participate in separate swim, bike and run events, at their preferred location and time, prior to the triathlon.
By participating in each of the events, kids will earn a piece to a puzzle-like earning the final piece at the Cereal City KIDS Triathlon.
Registration to the Cereal City KIDS Triathlon Series includes a medal for each completed virtual event and registration to the Cereal City KIDS Triathlon event.
The Cereal City KIDS Triathlon has partnered with the Battle Creek Family YMCA making the Goguac Lake Swim the unofficial official swim event of the triathlon series. It's a great way to expose kids to an open water swim event with other people. Not to mention, it supports the YMCA learn to swim programs. Separate registration for the lake swim is required.
We believe that financial barriers should not stand in the way of offering the experience of the kids triathlon to kids. Thanks to the Cereal City Triathlon and Duathlon, we have over 50 schoalrships to award to kids who may not otherwise have an opportunity to participate in the event. Scholarships can also be awarded to kids who you feel have worked hard hard to be active, accomplished a goal or would just benefit or enjoy trying something new.
